Worship at Swinford

Collective Worship

Our worship is inspirational, invitational and inclusive. The worship is planned around themes each term using a variety of different materials to inspire and engage. We meet together each day as a whole school to listen, think, pray and sing.

Our worship follows the pattern

gather, engage, respond, send

On Wednesdays we use a resource called Picture News which helps us to think about our place in the world.

On Fridays we have our celebration Collective worship.

Flying Fish

Over a year, every pupil in the school is invited to help lead collective worship as part of the Flying Fish team. The pupils from Flying fish lead the gather, respond and send parts alongside the adult. All the teachers in the school lead collective worship on a rota basis.

We welcome members of the local churches to enrich our Collective worship. Sharon March was a regular visitor to our school to lead collective worship and run Thursday Church. Now we are welcoming Ben Horrex to lead collective worship in our school.

During the school year, we lead and take part in collective worship in All Saints Church. We celebrate Harvest, Remembrance, Christmas, Easter and the end of summer term service in the local church. This is a special place for us to be together with the local community.

Pop up Prayer Space

Each half term we have a pop up prayer space outside where pupils and staff can engage in quiet reflection, explore spirituality and consider something beyond themselves in a safe and creative environment.

We offer a variety of activities to facilitate reflection and prayer, encouraging pupils and staff to explore their own spirituality, faith and the big questions that life presents us with.

Our Prayer Space are welcoming for anyone who chooses to use it, regardless of their background or beliefs.
