Our Vision and Values
At Swinford Church of England Primary School, we believe that every child can do amazing things and our mission is to help make this potential a reality by inspiring confident learners who will thrive in a changing world.
Our curriculum is shaped by our school vision of:
“Inspiring confident learners in a thriving community, living life in all its fullness.”
This is rooted in the Christian teaching to “love your neighbour as yourself,” and underpins how we learn together and care for one another every day.
Our values of being Ready, Respectful and Safe are at the heart of school life, helping children feel secure, valued and ready to learn.
Curriculum Intent
We have designed our curriculum to support every child to grow and flourish. Alongside strong academic learning, we place great importance on developing the whole child.
Through our curriculum, we aim to:
- Inspire children to be curious, confident and enthusiastic learners
- Provide a broad and engaging curriculum that builds knowledge and skills over time
- Ensure all pupils, including those with SEND, feel included, supported and successful
- Help children develop respect, kindness and responsibility
- Prepare pupils for the next stage of learning and for life beyond school
We also place a strong focus on children’s personal and spiritual development. Through everyday learning, we provide opportunities for pupils to:
- Think about and reflect on their experiences
- Build positive relationships with others
- Explore the world with a sense of curiosity and wonder
- Share their ideas, thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment
Curriculum Implementation
We have designed our curriculum to be engaging, inclusive and responsive to the needs of all learners.
This is achieved through:
- High-quality teaching that encourages curiosity, independence and resilience
- A creative approach to learning that brings subjects to life
- Carefully planned lessons that build knowledge step-by-step
- Adaptations and support to ensure all pupils, including those with SEND, can access learning
- Strong relationships and consistent routines that help children feel safe and settled
- Opportunities across subjects for children to discuss ideas, reflect on learning and explore the world around them
Our classrooms are places where children feel confident to try new things, share their ideas and grow in independence.
Curriculum Impact
Through our curriculum, children at Swinford develop into confident, well-rounded individuals.
As a result, our pupils:
- Enjoy learning and show confidence in their abilities
- Treat others with respect, kindness and care
- Are able to reflect on their learning and experiences
- Feel a strong sense of belonging within our school community
- Are well prepared for the next stage of their education
We want all children to leave Swinford ready to make a positive difference in the world, living out our vision of life in all its fullness.
Our Approach to Inclusion
We are committed to making sure our curriculum is accessible to every child.
We adapt our teaching and provide support so that all pupils, including those with SEND, can take part in learning and feel successful.
We also ensure that all children are able to develop personally and spiritually by:
- Feeling safe and supported in school
- Building strong relationships with adults and peers
- Taking time to reflect and understand themselves
- Developing confidence in expressing their thoughts and feelings
This helps every child to feel valued and able to flourish.
